Grasshopper Tiara
This Art Nouveau Grasshopper Tiara - made of pearls, rubies, diamonds, enamel and gold - was created by Luis Masriera y Roses, a jeweler from Barcelona. He was influenced by the works of Rene Lalique and came to be known as one of the most prominent jewelers in the Art Nouveau style.
This is pretty much the only picture of this tiara that I can find on the web. I did come across one site that showed the back as well which was kind of neat because there is a pin on the back in case you wanted to wear this as a brooch instead. Did I bookmark this site? Of course not. Can I find it in my history? It's like it was a dream that never was.
Anyway, I have no idea on size - this is either a teeny tiara or would make a big, honking brooch. I can't tell from the pictures! I think if you wanted to go in tiara mode you would probably attach it with ribbons or maybe it comes with a frame that it can attach to.
I'm kind of surprised I can only find one example of a grasshopper tiara. Art Nouveau was all about embracing the natural world and, I mean, there are at least 2 dragonfly tiaras out there! I just thought grasshoppers would have been better represented in tiara form. They are, however, very well represented in brooches and necklaces.

It's not a tiara but I couldn't resist including this. Isn't it just stunning? I would totally wear this and the tiara at the same time.

- Art Deco vs. Art Nouveau - Two different styles, but people often confuse one for the other. This is a nice compare and contrast between the two styles.
