Happy Easter everyone! I don't celebrate this holiday in the traditional sense. To me it's usually just a way to get together with the family. This year, though, we decided to forgo a family dinner. Due to Reasons we can only hold the family dinners at my place. Because of my wonky hip, it would be hard for me to prep the house and the meal. Even the last family dinner, at Christmas, was difficult and all I had to do then was heat up dishes I had picked up from the local grocery store. Also, one of the teens in the family has a birthday today and I wasn't sure if she really wanted to spend her birthday at a family dinner. So this year it was just Best Son and I. We had some ham steaks with sides and watched an episode of Roadkill. I had a lovely time! Although I did miss seeing the other family members.

I made a new website! One of the peeps I follow, Oopsie Doodle, has a section on her site called Free Ideas. She has a whole bunch of ideas for projects someone could do and, well, one of them caught my eye! She thought there should be some kind of collection - a zine, a blog post, a site, something - that had all the ridiculous terms used in romance stories to describe intimate parts. That idea just tickled me for some reason so I ran with it and created The Turgid Bud. It's a little bit naughty but fun! I also found some interesting links that were related to my searches for material and I included those. I have other plans for the site. I'd like to do a quiz in the spirit of Antidepressants or Tolkien and, if I can find a way to set up a Mad Libs type story, I'd like to do that too. Big ideas, we'll see if I get around to them. Meanwhile, go take a look at my new site!

Listening

Some podcasts I listened to this week:

It's been a while since I checked out some K-pop. I watch a channel called K-Ville Entertainment. They have various videos - a new hits of the week, top hits of the month, etc. I guess I must just like a very particular kind of K-pop because mostly I'm disappointed in what the selections are. I have found a few, lately, that I like. These are kind of outlier hits - the first 2 sound more like what I would think of as bar rock than K-pop.

Reading

I finally chose my next book from my Libby wishlist - The Chilbury Ladies' Choir by Jennifer Ryan. It's the story of women in the village choir during WWII. Kind of interesting in that it's partially told through letters that some of the characters write.

Watching

I watched the other 2 episodes of the Katavi: Africa's Fallen Paradise nature series. The one I talked about last week was Sanctuary. This week I watched Purgatory and Salvation. The lush river wetlands suffered a once-in-a-century drought and dried up to almost nothing. It was hard times for all of the wild animals. Then the rains finally came and the river flooded which was better, but brought new worries to the area residents. Excellent series although if you watch it, remember, nature is not kind. Lion cubs don't fare well when an intruder male tries to take over the pack.

I also finished up the SAS: Rogue Warriors series. I would tell you that I am not into military history but I'd probably be a liar because I found this absolutely fascinating. Maybe it's because it's not typical military history - these were definitely a bunch of rogues, doing things their own way.

I think that's about it for now. Til next week!
