We're on a roll, people! It's the Third Weekly Wrap Up!
This past week I had a birthday so I took a few days off work and did nothing of note. I had a vague idea about gathering the family together for dinner and cake but my 2nd mom has a new, very young foster puppy which apparently throws a fit when it can't see her. She didn't want to leave it alone so I told her we'd just do a family dinner some other time when there wasn't a Puppy Situation going on.
I bought myself a cake slice from the grocery store (mmm, buttercream frosting - you know cake is just a frosting delivery vehicle), ordered dinner from one of the local New Mexican style restaurants (chili relleno with a side of rice and beans, chips, salsa and a prickly pear margarita) and watched Damsel, that new Millie Bobbie Brown movie from Netflix. It was a fun movie and I had a delightful evening.
So, I'm 55 this year. And every year, I think this year will be the year that I feel like a Real Adult(tm). I mean, I do all the real adult things, like going to work every day and paying the bills. But honestly, I kind of feel the same way I did when I was 16. I mean, with a lot more life experience and not quite as doofus as a teenager can be but, all the same, I thought by now there would have been some kind of Enlightenment Moment and all of a sudden I'd feel like I leveled up. But I'm just the same me as I always have been. I feel a little bit cheated although looking back, I'm not sure anyone ever promised me new levels, new skills, new items. What a rip. I'd like to speak to the manager, please.
Watching
I fell down a rabbit hole with Travel Adventure YouTube this week because I found a couple of channels where they were visiting ghost towns/abandoned places/quirky areas in my state that I had never heard of! I've lived here for over 40 years and I'm always looking to learn about unusual places so I was surprised to find that between them there were several that were new to me.
I also watched a video on Princess Blanche's Crown. I think this is just one of the prettiest crowns ever. So many colors! I love sparklies. The story was pretty amazing - this was only one of several made and it was one of the lesser ones. I've seen this crown in person at the Munich Residenz and it's even more beautiful than its pictures.
Reading
Last week I thought I'd finish up Perilous Seas and be well on my way to going through my TBR pile but I'm still on this same book! I have bouts where I feel particularly spacy and it's hard to concentrate and I'm going through that right now. I am over halfway through it though, so maybe I'll finish it by the end of the week.
Until next week!
