Boo! Well Happy Halloween to all of you. I am not one of those people who gets all gung ho about this holiday (or any holiday, really) although this year, due to watching videos on YouTube from Wicked Makers, I was *almost* convinced I needed to make a giant spider for the front yard, which the HOA would have probably had a fit about. Sanity prevailed (well, really procrastination) and there is no giant spider in my life.

I have ideas on a shrine of sorts that I want to make. Kind of an anti-shrine or an infamous shrine. Hey, I know they're supposed to be about something you like but this is my site and if I want to go against the flow then I will. I'm getting caught up in the details, though. Instead of writing out my content I'm obsessing about the look of the site. I want it to reflect what I'm writing about so I've been searching old layout sites and they all don't quite have what I want so I settled on something but then realized it was easy to make a tiled background and was just looking for some complimentary copyright free artwork to make into buttons and images and...

This is why I can get nothing done in my life because I approach *everything* like this.

I found a cool new person to follow on YouTube: Estuera. He has a series of videos where he's created old school electronic music but he goes through the process of acquiring samples, running them through synths and creating a unique piece of music. I know nothing about music creation but I find the process fascinating, especially how someone can hear a snippet of something and in their mind know how it's going to turn out after they've tweeked it. My brain doesn't work that way. It's just here for the big beats.

Let's see, on the reading front I finished Midnight Riot and even though it took me a while to get into it, it was really good! I'd like to read more in the series. Just waiting for them to become available for the Kindle through the library. By the way, the way libraries have to acquire digital books is criminal and stupid and worthy of a rant all its own. Currently I'm reading Aliette de Bodard's Servant of the Underworld. I don't find many books set in the Mesoamerican world (this one is during the Aztec times) so I thought it would be interesting just for that. So far I'm enjoying it.

When it rains it pours because not only do I have that book set during that time, I also have the last 2 books written in the Eric Carter series by Stephen Blackmoore. This is set in the modern day but Carter has doings with Santa Muerte and her husband, Mictlantecuhtli, an Aztec god of the dead. Those are fun reads but I hadn't kept up with the series which is why I have 2 books waiting to be read.
